January 8, 2007 - Applications for funding under the City of Knoxville's Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and HOME Investment Partnerships Act (HOME) programs will be available on January 8, 2007.

ESG funds will be available for projects that assist homeless persons in accordance with the Knoxville-Knox County Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. HOME funding will be available to certified Community Housing Development Organizations for housing related activities, including housing development and improvement.

CDBG funds will be available to non-profit and public agencies for a variety of projects, including property acquisition, facility renovations, infrastructure improvements (including sidewalks and parks), and housing improvements. CDBG funding may also be used to provide services, including literacy, health care, child care, services for elderly persons, and employment training. Both CDBG and HOME funding must be used to assist people who meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's low to moderate income limits (currently $43,850 for a family of four).

All applications are due by 12:00 (noon) on Friday, February 16, 2007.

Technical assistance workshops will be held:

ESG Wednesday, January 24 1:30 PM All workshops at John T.
O'Connor Senior Citizen's
Center at 611 Winona
Street, Knoxville
CDBG Wednesday, January 24 2:15 PM
HOME/CHDO Thursday, January 25 9:30 AM
CDBG Thursday, January 25 10:15 AM

Workshop attendance is mandatory for all applicants and funding sources.

Applications from agencies not attending the appropriate workshop(s) will not be considered for funding. If you are applying for CDBG funds, it is not necessary to attend both CDBG workshops unless that is your preference.

It's anticipated that grants will range from $15,000 to $100,000 and the projects they fund must be designed to begin on July 1, 2007 and be completed by the end of June of 2008.

There is no limit to the number of applications an agency can submit but each separate project must have a separate application.

For further information or to have an application package sent to you, please call 865-215 2120.
