Festivities scheduled for Dogwood Park opening
Victor Ashe Park
March 29, 2006 - A grand opening for the Dogwood Park, the City of Knoxville's first off-leash dog park, will be held on April 15 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Dogwood Park is located within Victor Ashe Park, 4901 Bradshaw Road.

Grand opening festivities will include a demonstration by the International Disc Dog Handling Association, doggie bag giveaways, adoptable animals, pet grooming, and microchip injections for pets.

Dogwood Park is completely fenced, and features a puppy playground, which includes an inclined hill, a tunnel, a puppy jump, and even a water fountain made for dogs.

The park is a joint effort of the City of Knoxville and Knox D.O.G. is a nonprofit organization that focuses on creating safe environments for pet owners to bring their dogs for leash-free exercise. To make a donation or to find more information about this group, visit www.DiscoverET.org/knoxdog.

For directions and more information about Victor Ashe Park, visit the City of Knoxville web site at www.cityofknoxville.org/parks/victor.asp or call 3-1-1.
