The Mayor presented the students with checks for $50 each and their
teachers $125 each for use in their classrooms.

Schools that collect the most books are also eligible for cash
prizes. Four winners will be named among elementary schools, three
among middle schools and one high school.
Schools will begin collections as BellSouth delivers new books.
The last day for books to be collected for the contest is Jan. 27,
Businesses who wish to donate books to specific schools may still
take their books directly to Knox Recycled Fiber, located at 1323
Proctor St. Please call Clark Lindsey at 522-6129 between 7:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to make drop-off arrangements.
Participating sponsors are the City of Knoxville, Knox County,
SP Recycling, and Rock-Tenn Recycling.
