Street Closures Set for Christmas Parade
Christmas In the City
Parking is free in the City's Market Square, State Street and Locust Street garages, and on meters, from 6 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends.
December 1, 2005 - The 2005 Fowler's/WIVK Santa Claus Parade begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 in downtown Knoxville. Parade Grand Marshals are members of the 278th and Delta Marines - all members are invited to march. Members are asked to meet at the Civic Coliseum at 6 p.m. The parade will begin at the Civic Coliseum, travel down Church Avenue, turn right onto Gay Street, and turn right onto Summit Hill Drive before disbanding at Summit Hill and Central Avenue. More than 70 organizations, including local high school bands, will participate in this year's parade.

The following streets will be closed due to the WIVK Santa Claus Parade on Friday, Dec. 2:

  • 2:00 PM - Union Ave will be closed at Market St. TV crew will set up here.
  • 5:30 PM - Howard Baker Jr. Dr. will be closed at Hall of Fame Dr. and Hill Ave., south side only. WB Hall of Fame will remain open.
  • 5:30 PM - Hall of Fame Dr. will be closed at Summit Hill Dr. and Historic Preservation Dr.

    Coming into the parade route, the following streets will be closed:

  • Church Ave. east bound at Market St.
  • State St. northbound at Cumberland Ave.
  • Clinch Ave. westbound at State St.
  • Commerce Ave. eastbound at State St.
  • Union Ave. eastbound at State St.
  • Gay St. northbound at Cumberland Ave.
  • Central St. southbound at Summit Hill Dr.
  • Summit Hill Dr. eastbound at Locust St.
  • Summit Hill Dr. eastbound at Walnut St.
