Next South Waterfront Workshop Set for Dec. 15
South Waterfront Process
November 18, 2005 - Mayor Bill Haslam thanked those attending the first public workshop on the South Waterfront Thursday, Nov. 17 and stated his goal for a planning process that is transparent, inclusive and driven by the ideas and energy of the community.

The workshop was the starting point in creating a South Waterfront Vision and Action Plan that is "driven by the ideas and energy of the community and can be realistically achieved," Mayor Bill Haslam said.

After a presentation by project manager Gavin McMillan of Hargreaves & Associates, those attending the workshop went to work. They studied tabletop exhibits that provided information on every aspect of the district, from its historical significance and its cultural inheritance to neighborhoods, greenspaces and major employers.

The participants then offered their own ideas about what made the South Waterfront special, before sharing their visions of what this community asset can and should look like in the future.
The feedback will provide the foundation for the next workshop to be held Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at Kerbela Temple, 315 Mimosa Ave., next to Baptist Hospital.
