Furniture needed for
evacuees in Knoxville
September 21, 2005 - The Compassion Coalition
is urgently seeking donations for furniture and household items for
Hurricane Katrina evacuees who are moving into housing in the Knoxville
area.
The coalition is operating two warehouses. They are located at
Cokesbury Center, 9915 Kingston Pike, and the old Hill's building,
4825 North Broadway, next to Big Lots. The Cokesbury Center is open
Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. The Broadway warehouse is open Monday through Saturday,
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Volunteers will be at both locations to receive the furniture and
make it available to those in need. (Household items only, no office
furniture please.) Tax receipts for donations are available.
Please donate only items that are in pretty good shape.
The following good, used furniture items are needed immediately:
dressers
beds (everything but king size)
chests of drawers, dressers
appliances (no built-ins, and must be in good working order)
kitchen or dining room tables and chairs
living room sofas and chairs
lamps, coffee tables, end tables, and other furniture items
to make a house a home.
