Ribs, Rides 'N Rock in Knoxville
Ribs, Rides 'N Rock starts at 10:30 a.m. at the World's Fair Park. See you there!
World's Fair Park
July 27, 2005 - The World's Fair Park will be busy with "Ribs, Rides 'N Rock" this weekend starting at 10:30 a.m.

Ribs, Rides 'N Rock is a free day-long celebration full of activities for the entire family to support East Tennessee Children's Hospital and the Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride, which benefits Victory Junction Gang Camp for children and families coping with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

Sponsored by Pilot, the City of Knoxville, the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, Knoxville News Sentinel, Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson, WIMZ and WBIR, Ribs, Rides 'N Rock celebration is a lively, fun event with an amateur barbecue cook-off called "BBQ at the Ball Y'all", live local entertainment, and a children's fun area with oversized inflatable toys, mascot meet and greet, the Knoxville Zoo's mobile animal exhibit and much more.

A portion of the event's proceeds benefit East Tennessee Children's Hospital and Victory Junction Gang Camp. Ribs Rides 'N Rock starts at 10:30 a.m. and continues until the Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty charity riders enter the park late that afternoon. "We encourage everyone who wants to join the party at the World's Fair Park to get there early to secure a good spot and welcome Kyle Petty and the other celebrity riders as they roll into Knoxville," Hazelwood said.

This year, 250 motorcycle enthusiasts and celebrities are participating in the ride. Their journey begins July 23 in Lake Oswego, Ore., and continues across the country to Knoxville, where the riders spend their last night before riding to Victory Junction Gang Camp on July 31 in Randleman, N.C.

"The Chick-fil-A-Kyle Petty Charity Ride benefits so many children and families in need in East Tennessee and across the country," said Hazelwood, who built Jessie's Horsepower Garage at the camp with his wife, Suzie, in memory of their daughter Jessie. "Pilot is proud to support such a worthwhile endeavor and thankful that Knoxville can be part of this charitable journey."

Formed in 1995 by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America features NASCAR celebrities, sponsors and fans traveling cross-country to raise money for children's charities.
