Knoxville Zoo invites groups for wild sleepovers
Knoxville Zoo
July 20, 2005 - Bring your favorite pajamas and get ready for a night full of adventure during Knoxville Zoo's Bedtime with the Beasts.

Bedtime with the Beasts is an overnight educational program that takes place on weekends until mid-November. Bedtimes are available to any organized group of 15-25 people, but all participants must be ages 6 and above. Each program begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9:30 a.m. the next day. Bedtimers are then able to enjoy the rest of the zoo during that day.

A Bedtime journey includes walking tours, a visit by a small animal, biofacts, hands-on activities and more. Many tours highlight animals such as lions and owls that are more active in the evenings. During tours, visitors get to experience the zoo in a quiet, crowd-free setting as overnight instructors lead them through the zoo.

The cost for an incredible Bedtime with the Beasts experience is $35 per person for non-members and $30 for Knoxville Zoo members. Each Bedtime experience includes zoo admission, parking, security, use of bedtime facilities, a late night snack, light breakfast and Bedtime souvenir merchandise.

For more information, special evenings or to make reservations for Bedtime with the Beasts, contact Roz Gorzeman at 865.637.5331 ext. 352.

After an exciting night, a fun-filled day awaits bedtime participants. This summer the zoo is hosting Animal Grossology in the Pilot Traveling Exhibit Center until Sept. 5. Grossology gives visitors a fun and educational look at the repulsive part of nature at work through games and other interactive exhibits. Grossology admission is $2 for ages 3 and up with paid zoo admission. Admission is free for Knoxville Zoo members. Kids Cove is another fun area to visit. This new place to play is aimed specifically at thrilling those 12 and under and is extremely popular with zoo visitors.

Knoxville Zoo is located off exit 392 from Interstate 40 and is open every day except Christmas Day. The zoo is nationally accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association and is committed to the highest standards in animal care and well-being, ethics, conservation, and education. Currently, the zoo is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and ticket sales stop one hour before the zoo closes. For more information, please call 865.637.5331 ext. 300.
